Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Happy New Year!  FROM THE DAY’S!
2012 has been a year of new things in the Lord and trusting Him for the future.
We have had many trials but many blessings this year. August brought us a wonderful new baby boy Daniel William! God encouraged us greatly with his arrival. He is a precious addition to this family. He is a happy baby and loves all the attention he gets from his brothers and sister. He melts our hearts with his smile!

Josiah is hilarious. He loves looking through books. He piles them up on the couch and looks through them one at a time. He likes to go on hikes and to be outside which he refers to as “side”. He has quite an imagination and has learned to say what all 2 year olds learn: “NO”! He is growing and learning to share and blesses us all with his content disposition.
Alyssa is our 4 year old princess! She loves dancing around the house, dressing up, reading books with Daddy and Mommy and playing with Josiah. She enjoys helping mommy cook, and is learning a lot in preschool. She loves the chance to play with her friends or cousin Lydia having “girl time”. She brings an extra “motherly touch” around the house as she helps mom take care of her little bothers and Stripes our cat.
Evan is 6 years old and learning to read and is real interested in the outdoors! He is currently building a fort in the woods. He loves thinking creatively, enjoys science in school time and is fascinated with anything involving adventure or weapons. He wants to be a pioneer, hunter, or warrior in his future. However he does have a thoughtful and soft side, often helping out around the house. He also has the reputation for sharing hilarious one-liners.

Joel turned 8 and is in 2nd grade this year and is quite a good reader. He is very tall and is almost to his mother’s shoulders. He loves reading and building legos in his free time. He has learned to ride a bike this year and is a great help around the house. His brothers and his sister adore him and he helps them and entertains them well. We also call him the events coordinator, as he likes to help plan and think through the details of family life!
Bonnie has continued homeschooling Joel and Evan while occupying Alyssa and Josiah between feeding and changing Daniel. She has found it a challenge worth facing and does it with courage and faith. This fall she enjoyed a Bible Study group with other moms in the area. She is a great support to Scott as his schedule is complicated with several jobs balanced with the church.
Scott continues to work hard with Luke in establishing The Gathering Church. The Gathering Church was planted in October of last year and moved into a bigger building in January. We now have classrooms and a fellowship hall and plenty of space to grow. Scott has been busy working several jobs this year to pay the bills while spending time with people and seeking to equip the church. When not working, he enjoys spending time with the kids and catching up with Bonnie in the evenings. God has blessed us this year and we look forward to 2013. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The Last Sin Eater

Francine Rivers wrote a novel called The Last Sin Eater. It was also made into a movie. I see so many parallels from this movie to even present Appalachian culture. That is, cultural religion though it resembles faintly the the truth of the Gospel is in fact not the Gospel and instead of freeing us, enslaves us.
